Apple has released a new version of the iPhone and iPad operating systems, number 16.3.1, to fix a vulnerability that hackers were already starting to use. |
A so-called 'zero day' vulnerability, never intercepted before, which was discovered by a researcher of the Citizen Lab, a research group on digital rights of the Munk School of the University of Toronto. |
The vulnerability affects WebKit, a software used for the Safari search engine, targeted by hackers, which can open access to the rest of the device's data. |
Apple credited the discovery to an anonymous researcher and thanked Citizen Lab "for their assistance". |
